The subject

The Pacific Ocean anchors the experience on northwest coastal landscapes, forcefully asserting its power and diversity. Stand on the beach at Kalaloch and the scale rearranges you: the surf is not a sound so much as a pressure, the fog closes the horizon to arm's length, and the driftwood — whole trees — has been thrown and stacked like kindling.

Distilling that, our Kalaloch soap exfoliates with sand quarried by the relentlessly pounding waves and integrates seawater to deliver natural salts and minerals. Sequim lavender — which exists only because of a unique maritime mountain weather pattern, the Olympic rain shadow — stands alone as the solitary essential oil in the bar.

Ocean sand

Quarried by the waves themselves. A real, coarse exfoliant — the beach, doing the work it already does on stone.

Seawater

For its natural salts and minerals — the ocean carried into the lather, not approximated by a lab.

Sequim lavender

The single essential oil. It grows in the Olympic rain shadow and nowhere else quite the same — a place-specific scent, not “lavender” in general.

Base oils

Cold-processed olive, coconut, and palm for a smooth, lasting lather; shea butter to moisturize. The lather is table stakes — the place is the point.
